Inorganic UV Absorbers

NYACOL® offers two types of materials as transparent UV absorbers; cerium oxide and titanium oxide. The materials all offer high transparency in the visible range and UV absorption spectra characteristic of the oxide type. The materials are used in coatings or as additives in films or fibers to control the UV absorption. These materials require careful formulation as they are all capable of generating free radicals which requires use of additives in the formulations or passivation of the inorganic surface.

NYACOL® TiSol-PC is a light activated photocatalyst and has an extended absorption profile enabling the product to be functional with fluorescent and LED lighting, as well as sunlight. The product supports a variety applications such as, self-cleaning surfaces, textiles, concrete and wood and solar glass. Refer to the data sheet for specific uses.

We offer water based dispersions as the first option and then hydrocarbon based dispersions in some cases for formulating options.

Looking for More Options?

In some cases our standard materials are not suitable for a customer’s particular application, or a different composition is required. In these cases, we will consider a custom development project with our customers. We generally proceed under a Non-Disclosure Agreement and we will do the project in such a way that the material can be readily scaled up.
