Colloidal Silica Additives:

NYACOL® manufactures a broad range of colloidal silica products for coating applications. Colloidal silica can be used to improve adhesion and scratch resistance of latex based coatings, as a binder for protective coatings, for control of coefficient of friction and as a surface sealant.

Colloidal Titanium Dioxide Self-cleaning Coating:

NYACOL®  is offering an aqueous dispersion of ultrafine titanium dioxide – TiSol-PC – designed to be used as a self-cleaning coating.  TiSol-PC can be applied to all types of bathroom tiles and fixtures to provide a self-cleaning, odor removing coating.  It can be used on fabrics as a flexible coating and deodorizing agent.  Commercial drapes and carpets benefit.  It can also be applied to concrete and wood providing self-cleaning surfaces.  TiSol-PC is an excellent alternative to fluorinated hydrophobic glass coatings used in solar panels.

The product is light activated, meaning UV light and part of the visible light spectrum generate electron holes in the photocatalytic top layer.  Hydroxide radicals and super-oxide ions are generated, which degrade surface contaminants and organics.  The contaminants are broken down and easily washed away.

In some cases our standard materials are not suitable for a customer’s particular application, or a different composition is required. In these cases, we will consider a custom development project with our customers. We generally proceed under a Non-Disclosure Agreement and we will do the project in such a way that the material can be readily scaled up.
