PET Film, Fiber and Bottle Resin Additives

NYACOL® offers colloidal dispersions and powders for use in the production of PET film, fiber and bottle resin. The materials are supplied as ethylene glycol dispersions or powders, and are added in the polymerization process for the production of PET resin.

NYACOL® SN902 is a clear fast reheat agent providing exceptional performance in PET bottles. The product is a 50 nm dispersion of antimony tin oxide and provides a superior balance of properties in bottles. The reheat performance can be controlled over a wide range without affecting haze and color of the bottles. SN902 is approved by the FDA under FCN1437 for use up to 500 ppm in all PET bottle conditions.

NYACOL® DP5820, DP5480, DP5540 and S200-EG are amorphous silica dispersions in EG used for high performance antiblocking and control of the coefficient of friction. The materials are added in polymerization and the range of particle size allows the user to dial in the performance required. These products have been used in PET film since 1993.

NYASIL amorphous silica powders are nano-structured additives for PET film antiblocking where micron sized materials are needed. NYASIL 20 is the most popular grade with a D50 of 2 microns and a surface area of 135 m2/g.

NYACOL® DP6095 is a calcium carbonate dispersion of 0.4 to 0.6 microns mean size. DP6095 is used in specific applications where the surface roughness requirement of the PET film requires the particle of DP6095.

NYACOL® TiSol EG and NYACOL ITO-EG are development products being offered for UV absorption and high performance IR absorption respectively. Refer to the respective data sheets for the UV/VIS/IR curves to see if the new additives meet your requirements.

In some cases our standard materials are not suitable for a customer’s particular application, or a different composition is required. In these cases, we will consider a custom development project with our customers. We generally proceed under a Non-Disclosure Agreement and we will do the project in such a way that the material can be readily scaled up.
